Not all hardwoods are created equal. Here in upstate New York, where County Floors is located (just hours away from the Canadian border), there’s something about our short summer growing season and long, cold, harsh winters that makes for an extremely hardy tree — and a very durable wood.
Whether you are looking for classic domestic hardwoods for traditional wood flooring (such as ash, beech, birch, cherry, elm, hickory, maple, oak, pine, and walnut) or perhaps a more exotic species, you’ll find it here. Because they grow more slowly than comparable species do in warmer, wetter climates, these northern trees have tighter growth rings, whiter wood, and less mineral grain coloration. In addition, because they are harder and denser, they can stand up better to heavy foot traffic and other abuse!
All our ¾″ solid northern hardwood planks come in either select or rustic (“country”) grades, and are available in both narrow and extra-wide widths, ranging from 3″ to 17″. We also carry extra-long planks as well.
And because all our northern hardwoods are grown, milled, and kiln-dried locally, you can be assured of the very highest quality in the wood type you choose to create a beautiful and distinctive floor for your home or business. We can even sometimes arrange for special color tones in your flooring, if desired.
If you don’t see a particular species in this list to the right, please call for availability — we probably have what you’re looking for in stock. Take special note of the latest addition to our product line: coffee bean. This little known species is a cross between hickory and oak. And while it has the pinkish tone of oak, it is harder and denser, like hickory. Best of all, the price can’t be beat!
